A vibrant downtown district usually has multiple functions that all work together to create an environment that attracts a wide variety of people. Most of us can identify places (present or past) in our downtown area that make it special. These places promote a sense of place for their visual qualities as well as for their associations with important people, businesses, organizations, and social trends – maybe a restaurant, park, market, theater, school or church.
